Weekly AGR Session: 14th August 2011

Hey people!

Well last week was amazing, some truly killer action, some unprecedented rs_zz1 / zigzag toughmode action and possible one of the best 2farms EVER!! CHECK OUT THE DEMOS (link below)… and as I’m writing this I just realised that I HAVEN’T PUT UP THE DEMOS!!! Dammit, things have been VERY hectic here at AGR Central, and I’ve been truly possessed, working like a madman on something new.. a [CENSORED] (never before been seen in Quake1) that I think will totally KICK ARSE!!! Anyway, for now, I can’t wait to get stuck into some hard core TF action at that  Loft of lechery we all refer to as the:

Who: People who feel that the Chap should look more holy.

Why: Because this week, he really will.

MAP SCHEDULE

1. muskrat4 (50  minutes*)
I’ve only played this a few times, don’t have any comments other than ‘lets see what happens’.

2. TF2k (60 minutes*)[toughmap mode]
CAN’T WAIT to play this brilliant map in ToughMap mode! I will be going Red for once, and I really look forward to making Blue struggle! Remember, you can’t survive Deathcap by jumping in the water in ToughMap mode.

3. caverns (60 minutes*)[toughmap mode]
Not being able to use hoverboots, airfist or grapple to escape with the flag will make this a VERY different type of game indeed!

4. 2tech4 (60 minutes*)
Ok, Ive had a go at fixing this, and it tested fine. But will it hold up to the power of a real AGR game? Lets find out.

* times may vary depending on player numbers, vibe, and quality of teamplay.

OMC’s tip: DON’T COWER IN THE FR! Remember martyrs can get into the FR and throw a bunch of mirvs, kracs and who knows what else whilst you stand there helplessly. D further out!

EZQUAKE AGR DOWNLOAD ISSUES SOLVED! (Credit: Spoike, MrPeanut)
We still don’t know exactly what’s causing EzQuake users to sometimes get ‘invalid chunk’ errors, but thanks to Spoike + MrPeanut, we have an answer, at the EzQuake console, type: cl_pext_chunkeddownloads

His email is dead, so if anyone knows, or knows someone who might know the whereabouts of Karl, the author of town4, please let me know.

Does anyone know the name of the map which is 1/2 2tech4, and IIRC 1/2 2fort5?

    Don’t give me credit for the cvar! Sp0ike told me there was a cvar, I just had to look it up 😛

      Oh and on cl_pext_chunkeddownloads:

      Its default is 1, set it to 0 to make your downloads work.

      thanks KOP. I checked it out and unfortunately the defenders/BLUE base is the 2fort5r one so it would really be just like playing 2fort5r. Ill have another look at the 2tech4 if I have time and see why it keeps crashing w AGR

    silly solutions, yes we unable to stop flying tanks or haze-like player – but limiting their speed to zero – is not a good solution.

    What is tba map? What is map name? I dont understand why we play 2 same maps? Call the police

    Demos are up!!!
    sapph: TBA = ‘to be announced’. The map schedules were traditionally carefully worked out a month before, but lately I haven’t had the time till the weekend. I’ll get back to the original system as soon as I can.
    GREAT Session btw – highlights were 2tech4, though TF2k has its moments, and caverns was very different in toughmap mode, I’d say better. Muskrat was so dull I didn’t even bother uploading the demo, if anyone disagrees, let me know.
    I look forward to fewer solo attacks by Red, and more teamwork. Where were the chaps?
