Glossary / Jargon / Acronyms
- Attack = this means actively attempting to Cap, as opposed to just DM’ing
- Bodyguard = A player who focuses on protecting a teammate whilst they achieve a certain task, usually a Tanky player covering an Engineer whilst they build /hack.
- Cap = Capturing a flag / key, or achieving the map’s set task
- Choke point = Areas of a map where Red MUST pass through, and are therefore strategically significant.
- D = Defend
- Det = Detpack, an explosive device
- DeathCap = the feature of AGR where all players die when Red capures the flag
- DMing = ‘DeathMatch’ing, in the AGR context this refers to players directly fighting each other, rather than focusing on the capture or defense of a flag
- Dream Team = This refers to matches where a small number of Guru players (5-6) do battle against all others. In Dream team matches, only those on the Dream team can join Blue (or Red), depending on the game.
- FG = Field Generator, made by Engineers to secure paths/doorways.
- Foyer = The area directly behind the front door of a base
- Grid = A section of grid flooring, with a cut out hole bit, to allow players to fall through; usually found in the foyer area.
- FR = Flag Room
- Mirror Damage = When you damage a teammate, you receive 1/2 of the damage.
- Nonamer = A player with an unknown name. Possible newbie, or possible troublemaker in disguise.
- O = Offense
- RageQuit = An explosion of frustration or anger, resulting in a player quitting, mid-game, unable to continue. Recovery can be anywhere from a few seconds to years.
- RR = Ramp Room
- SkinBlind = the effect where a gassed player sees all players naked, or wearing perverted outfit, and therefore cannot tell a teammates and enemies apart.
- SG = Sentry Gun
- SnailLegs = A condition which affects Chaplains who get sniped whilst chapping – they lose almost all mobility.
- Spamadellica = A mode/setting for AGR games where team damage is turned off, and mirror damage is turned off; the Weekly AGR Sessions are played in this mode on the last Sunday of every month. Spammadellica games are more hectic and action packed because you cannot damage teammates.
- Spiral = Spiral Area
- Tank = A player with a lot of Armour
- Tele = Teleporter
- ‘ToughMap’ mode = a gameplay mode on difficult maps where Blue has the advantage.
- Try = This is an organised attack by a group of Reds working together. Often accompanied by a Chaplain.
- Tourist = A player new to the Session, possibly just curious, possibly a troublemaker.
- Vuvu = The ‘vuvuzella’ sound that is heard in the last 60 seconds of AGR games where the ending hangs in the balance – ie there is no ‘winner’ yet.
