AGR VENTRILLO SERVER
We use a voice chat ventrillo for voice chat during AGR games. Download it, install it, and connect to 78.129.193.9, port 4298, AGR (Red+Blue) channels. Password is sent to those on the AGR Mailing List, but if you ask nicely during the game, someone might help you out.

    2braaaaavennnnnnnoooo…..My opinion for blue remains the same: if everyone brings a sentrygun (or even better, 2 of them), red is going to be very hard pressed to get to the flag and get out alive! Especially on 2brave; hoppers have lots of room to evade, so sentryguns are especially effective against reds because of their AA+instant hit capability! Light assault cannons and shotguns, DEPLOY!

    To all players, in order to keep games intereting, serious and trolls (Doc) resistant, follow those rules:
    1. Buy spawn protection
    2. Bypass sapwn campers, dont chase them like Col does
    3. Dont talk much with trolls, dont feed em
    4. Use ‘ignore Doc’ command
    5. Vote ‘punish’ to mute or kick a player who do harm
    6. Dont talk much with newbies – if they talkative its 90% Doc clones.
    7. Doc and Cloud are friends, so they sabotage together – dont feed em
    8. Try to do u best, help teammates
    9. Do not rage, play 3 macthes
    10. Use ventrillo for gameplay talks, dont spam like OMC (RR is empty where are all) – OMC didnot read team chat with location and sometimes prefer ventrilo spam againts readng game. Give players info about flag

    I play 4v4 tdm QL with top world players, and we use teamspeak only for game purposes and its very usefull, we had epic games and its 1000 times more serious and competetive when our AGR session, try to play as good as possible.

    2phat7 – 5/10 due poor and reatrded red attacks, Dec aa sniping, Col chasing everything moving everywhere, only OMC and some guyz tryed to attack. Actually red touched flag twice, and last touch was not permitted due t-mode
    Final score: 8-0 blue won

    sewer1 – 8/10, close to epic game, such intense gameplay due fast BH-opers – Haze, Wolf and others, we play on situation, rly complex to def if all players do what they do, need more coordination. I told OMC good tactics after wall broken – need def RR-FR area with tele to FR.
    8-8 final score

    2brave – */10 i dont know how it was cause was not so usfull trying to build tele or go spy all the time, talking and chating, just funny game nothing special.

    Demos are up.
    There were moments of greatness today. Full credit to Blue for a relentless D in 2phan7, though as a Red, we could have used more help. Sewer1 was great, though frustrating. We seriously need a ‘demonstration’ game to illustrate the power of NOT putting all your eggs in the FR basket.
    2brave1 was intense, frustrating, and good, but not great.
    The big area that needs improving (imho) is teamwork / coordination.

      This might help you guys out.

      When customizing, consider the situations you’ll be dealing with. As an attacker something that always got on my nerves in regular TF was having to deal with sentry guns when I was a combat medic because my teammates were inept. DURRR HOW DOES I ROCKETLAWNCHAIR?*suicides*

      So anyway my ‘improvement’ to the combat medic is to grab either a railgun or the Daedalus rifle so that I can devestate builds!

      On defense I don’t need as much leg speed but I go for at least #5 when on offense because of the amount of travel time.
      Armor is more important for reds as well because they can’t just resupply like the blues can. On offense I usually try to take 200 armor whereas on defense you can spend the money more for extra defensive options like grunts, demons, mines, builds, the airfist, or spam grenades (nail, gas, caltrops). That way you can set extra traps to cover a greater area and then simply resupply in between fights to avoid getting killed. Worst case scenario you’re only down for 5 seconds anyway, so at times it’s more effective to simply respawn.

      Another thing you might consider on defense: Buying a scanner (not even necessarily the autoscanner) allows you to reveal spies by touching them and allows you to disarm detpacks. One person with a scanner can almost completely negate spies and detpacks!

      Grunts, Demons, Mines, and Builds can make red’s life a living hell. First and most importantly, these defenses are very (if not 100%) accurate. The odds of an invader taking damage from them is very high, which makes them easier to kill off in the next room. Even if it only takes 2 mirvs and 15 seconds, it is *wasting their ammo and time*, which is compounded in effectiveness when every room reds enter slow and weaken them. After all, they don’t get anything from destroying these defenses other than passage to the next trap-filled room. It is as important for blue not to bunch up in one or two rooms as it is for red.

    OMC believe me I know how easy it is to blame teammates if you don’t actually SEE what they are doing to help, but on sewer when I knocked out your builds there were people fighting with me each time that I had to defeat before approaching your tesla.

    Teslas are NOT worth using. The immense cost of upgrading a tesla takes too much time because you have to run back to spawn 5+ times to complete it.

    SOLUTION: Tesla upgrades should cost 75 metal instead of their current price. This allows people to max their tesla out in no more than 3 refills of metal (with ammo backpack). Enemies will still destroy your build quickly with spam, but it won’t take ages to rebuild.

    Spy spammers suck. SOLUTION: if spies get too close (just outside melee range) to motion sensors or security cameras, their disguise is removed.

      agree, dont undersand why i need to put full clip in one spy just to remove disguiuse for SG’s, teslas or solders or just to remove fro teammates.

      BH+spy – u pass whole enemy territory undamaged unrevealed took flag and here we are

      And aslo its stipid some players ‘complain’ about BH restriction – like Haze, Ra3, Wolfgang – they get 800-1000 speed with 300 red armour and airfist (best acceleration weapon for BH-opers) and even SG’s unable to track their motion – it’s other gameplay like classic TF or Mega Tf shet or QW tdm – when all players select solders and its become solders vs solders TF.

      So what is the sense of speed buying? What is the sense of 50% custom items from buy menu, lets play solders vs solders, why not.

        That is one thing I miss from the other version of CustomTF, the “Psion” skill. Basically it had a long recharge but would ZAP the enemy you targeted, affecting them as if they had been psi-grenaded but doing a little damage as well and stopping their momentum (perfect for knocking hoppers out of the sky). It had a long recharge on the zap, but it also passively undisguised spies you bumped, giving them the message “That Psion KNOWS you’re a spy!” ^ ^ good times.

    Here’s mine:

    2phan7: I was a blue engineer on FR D. Out of all the reds the person I saw most was OMC, the other reds seemed to be just DM’ing with Blues outside. This could of all been over for blue if OMC had stuck with his spy class and had some help from just one team mate but this never happened. Interesting though, I learned how useless motion detectors are against spies (come back to this point later).

    sewer: I was a red airfist gren spammer…a class Haze would often inflict on me. Not a bad game but too often I would bunnyhop through blue base and get to the flag without seeing a single defender. The outside D was useless against against the speed advantage I had and the builds OMC were putting up weren’t being supported by defenders. Beltan placed himself in some good positions but it wasn’t until Decimus started using his AA lightning gun that I had to think about different tactics. Not my favourite map, trying to end it quickly with the annoying tough map mode on proved harder than I thought.

    2brave: Don’t really remember much of this. I was a red spy and just remember having the usual free run of blue base until Haze started sniping. Give credit to him though, it’s unusual to see him on Blue. Still annoyed with the inaccurate flags on the outside of the bases though. Why do the English have a Union Jack flag (British)? I’d change it if I knew how to edit Quake maps 🙂

    Just on the Engineer thing Beltan was complaining about….I’ve been saying it a while now but on the shaka version of CuTF the engineers had 375 metal to build with. Unless you custom in AGR it’s 275. Perhaps the most demoralizing class to be in AGR is the engineer. 90% of the time you are often on your own and bearing the brunt of players like me, Haze and Pa3 etc. This should be bumped up to 375 for standard engy IMO.
    Just on spies, I suggest some of you watch demos where spies are neutralized or made completely useless by clever defending. The only reason why spies do so much damage is because most players who come on the AGR server just don’t seem to recognize one when they see it. If you are going to invest time in builds and hacking then atleast get a scanner and motion det.
    Not sure what you are talking about Sapphired…I usually custom with 150 armour (never more as it stops BH) and then for leg speed I press 5.
    I wish some of you guys would try to learn to BH. Denying it’s existence is like blaming the mirror for your reflection 🙂
