Weekly AGR Session: 18th March 2012

Hey people!

It’s an exciting time.. lots of stuff which has been worked on for ages is slowly becoming ready to be unleashed; we recently play tested an exciting new gameplay mode for AGR, which (imho) tested quite well.. For now, I’m quite sleep deprived; I’m going to be a good boy and get a full nights sleep, so I can be up early, clear headed, focused, and ready for action at that Kingdom of Knavery known as the:

AGR VENTRILLO SERVER
We use a voice chat ventrillo for voice chat during AGR games. Download it, install it, and connect to 78.129.193.9, port 4298, AGR (Red+Blue) channels. Password is sent to those on the AGR Mailing List, but if you ask nicely during the game, someone might help you out.

DEMOS
Thanks to Sapphired, this Session (and previous ones) will be available for download here.

OMC’s tip: All these tips are available if you read back over previous pre-match info posts!

DREAM TEAM
Ok, put your names here. If we get 5 we do it, if not we don’t.

CHIT CHAT
As the regulars know, there are rules against non-game related chitchat, I’ve been slack in enforcing those rules, because I HATE having my focus switched from player to admin, however the gameplay has suffered because of this, so I will be enforcing the rules more strictly from now on.  I’ll just explain all this for the benefit of the new guys who might wonder why certain people might get muted/kicked and possibly worse:  The Weekly AGR Sessions are about seriously good games. Players are expected to be 100% focused on the game, ESPECIALLY what is happening around the base. As such they are constantly communicating with teammates as to what they’re doing, and checking what everyone else is doing. EVERY TIME someone posts some little quip, comment, joke etc, all players are FORCED to read it. An occasional comment is of course fine, but when it is relentless, when over 50% of the chat is not related to the game, players get distracted, the vibe changes, gameplay suffers, and soon everyone gets the ‘impression’ that others aren’t giving 100% – even thought it might only be one player doing it. I still haven’t decided if those (one or two players) guilty of this just don’t think about these things, or whether they ARE aware of all this and are doing it intentionally. Anyway, in the interests of maintaining and protecting the quality gameplay the Sessions are committed to providing, I will be much stricter with (what I deem to be) excessive non-game related chit chat during games.

OMC, think over anti-troll grenade, registered gurus only can prime it on not-related retards to mute them for 2-5 mins.

  • OneManClan

    Demos are up.
A great Session, bedlam12 was (personally) a little frustrating; rock2 had some wonderful moments (typically) towards the end of the game; 2tech4 had a restart, but the people demanded a re-visit to the (still unfinished!) ‘Payload Town’, which is looking VERY promising ..
    A very enjoyable Session 🙂

    Ventrillo was acting up..
REMINDER: Coming Next week = The Dream Team faces 2fort5r! Put your name down in the forum (use the link above). C’mon guys, let’s make TF history! Be one of the Fabulous Five!

Ventrillo is not SO essential for game play rly. For intermission or non-game relative talks – ok.

All you can do the best is to install normal (chat/voice commands) config for team communication (ask Haze).

I never seen any team say binds from OMC where our flag is with .loc links or something (the only OMC’s bind i know its ‘Attackers in Ramp Room’ – kinda not informative enough).

Also noticed that OMC and other not r’ly reading team chat but asking 10 times on ventrillo ‘where you are?’. It’s frustrating. And OMC is talking about team communication and dream team? LOL.

Here is list of guys (by Sapphired) who REALLY cares about teamplay based on real actions not just ‘talking around’:
      1. Wolfgang
      2. Haze
      3. Ra3
      4. Decimus

I mean they are trying to communicate via say_team, thet have binds, configs, etc. They rly care.

I know quake engine has some limitations, buts its really cool to have kinda radar, map or just info line with location/health/armor/class of you teammates.

    Thank you.

Demos have some issues: Some players don’t appear on scoreboard, and have no player skin. Players not appearing on the scoreboard cannot be tracked..

I appear white all game and do not appear on the scoreboard. Stan joins and appears white all game.

    also, demo_jump 44:30 on rock2 for the epic sapphire-door-opening-haze-cap.
