Also, if you’re using FTE (which you should be for the full AGR experience!) and want it to be as fast as possible, make sure you select ‘fast mode’ (Options->Graphics Presets) and in addition, at the console, type in:

  • r_waterstyle 1
  • cl_nolerp 1

This should exactly match ezquake in terms of responsiveness. Please confirm, in the comments below.

We use a voice chat ventrillo for voice chat during AGR games. Download it, install it, and connect to 78.129.193.9, port 4298, AGR (Red+Blue) channels. Password is sent to those on the AGR Mailing List, but if you ask nicely during the game, someone might help you out.

      Btw here is the link on old page of russian map designer, he is pro designer as well – Sd. Hunter who made such maps like cloudy, rstrong, north1 and some others need to find em. He is kinda last man who made real great maps for TF

      All i found for now is http://www.clan.sd.ru/ kinda clan site, i know for sure he got many other maps, need to search it on russian sites or ask Ra3.

    Plz admin pay more attention to scheduled maps quality.
    Hohoho, street was unplayable and waste of time.

    1. hohoho – admin went full afk_brb mode, we was not able to vote other map and gone mega tf server, verdict – 1 hours spent. Score 0/10
    2. 1fool1a – 4/10 just not enough players
    3. well – pretty fun, but kinda not coordinated 5/10
    4. town/street 2/10 dunno why not change to map on something more playable…just no comments..

    My vote for “Should the Weekly AGR Sessions move to Saturdays 22:00 GMT?” is YES. It’s crappy if euro players need to wake up Monday morning.

      1. For the record, map voting was ON today, but yea, there seems to be a problem w the voting. I’ll fix it during the week, if I have time.

      2. The POLL (at this stage) definitely reveals a preference for the Saturday Session …

    Guyz and admin i just found EPIC 10/10 map we played on russian TF server, it’s great design map, sure should be #1 1st map fro AGR sessions. Just check it out.

    Asking admin for PREMIERE map. Its really 100% playable and well designed. Good for 3v3 4v4 5v5, size small/medium

      Agreed, used to play this map on Phoenix Labs.

      We have actually played AGR on this maybe a few years ago but this should be scheduled in for next week +1

    After a disconcertingly slow start, the Session ended up being (in my subjective opinion) very very intense and FIERCE. Maybe it was because I hadn’t had a coffee for a week.

    1. hohoho well i had to go afk for a while and due to some voting issue/bug pp, ppl left the server so this map never happened – no great loss, it was meant to be just some christmas ‘fun’
    2. 1fool1a – Some GREAT action, felt like i was in ‘the zone’
    3. well6 – as Sapp said ‘fun, but not coordinated’, I tried to get Grunty + rocket (my latest obsession) but failed.
    4. (town never happened) Street – I thought Street was excellent especially towards the end when KOP and I kicked ARSE (!) with a devastating HolyChap + Guerilla combination.
    North1 was wild, frozen was good, but personally.. qdeth3.. was todays stand out game VERY intense, it felt like everyone was 100% focused, presonally I want into some kind of trance state at one stage, there are no intermissions after the scheduled maps.. so maybe it was a physical thing as well, when the Session ended I looked at the clock, it was nearly 3pm – had been playing for 5 hours!!
    A great day. Here are the demos! 🙂

    3. demoz3m – dunno why we ignore this map
    4. tent2 – epic original design

    I think we should go with some new maps, tired of old non-playable – waste of time and less fun

    Session review

    Started off badly with a terrible (but festive) map and an AWOL OneManClan so everyone went to the MTF server.
    1fool1a was just a warm up match. More bots were killed than players.

    Then the frustrating part. Had to sit through 2 maps that were too big for the number of players we had. Also, quite baffled by my team mates choice of tactics during Well and Street. In both maps the D was solid and then maybe through boredom or just sabotage they switched to the most inappropriate classes imaginable.
    Anyway session eventually started properly with North1, just the right size for the amount of players. I raged a bit in this map and then started to laugh at the absurdity of it all. I was a blue demoman and despite my best efforts could not stop the torrent of reds pouring into the FR…..so naturally I raged at my keyboard, lol.

    Frozen was my favourite map of the session as it was the right size for the number of players and the teams were relatively even. OMC, please schedule in smaller maps….this isn’t 1998 or 2006 anymore…..maps are too big for most sessions!!

      I think pre-scheduled maps is kinda mistake, cause we don’t know for sure how many players will arrive, maps should be chosen considering current amount of players on server.

        Yeah, I know Bastion. We have both requested it so I imagine OMC will happily oblige us now?

        Scheduled maps are not a problem but when OMC is reluctant to change to a smaller then it just kills the game off. Why play such big maps in 2013 when 95% of map is spent traveling to the other base. Well and Street were too big for 6-7 players we had…..I mean I’ve played 2mach1 back in 2006 when there was 20+ players on the map. It was insanely fun!

          Divide schedule into map sizes and figure backups depending on the number of players:
          Round 1- medium
          Round 2- large/ if too few players, medium.
          Round 3- small/ if enough players, med or large.

          Small maps: 2mach1, north1, that school one, etc
          Medium maps: 2fort5 or slightly larger
          Large maps: Qdeth3, Rock2, and at the far end of the spectrum, brave

          I know you probably don’t need more large maps but I enjoyed Hedge7. I think there was a flag problem last time we played but also a pentagram needs to be removed from it.

          One issue with small maps is that with blue having a 5 second delay on respawning, attackers can be up in their faces before they can build anything. I recommend “tough mode” on all small maps.

  • It is possible to have the server set up in such a way, that it rotates maps according to the player volume. So you could set 2fort5r in a rotation when players are between 0-16, bam4 with 8-16, rock2 with 10-32, sewer1 10-32, brave1a 12-32, so in this situation, 0-8 players would rotate between 2fort5r and bam4. You wouldn’t need an upper limit, but could be included.

    I have the .txt somewhere, if you are interested OMC, you properly already have it though.

      It already *is* set up that way. Maps like 2fort5 are available for 3 vs 3 games, because the assumption is that everyone on the server is playing FOR REAL, and 3 vs 3 is a viable game for dedicated players. Maybe it needs to be adjusted, OR .. make it so that certain classes are not available (SNIPERS!) if there are less than n players.

    Guyz i just accidentally revealed ONE SINGLE wrong settings (ez and fte) that prevents me from bunny jumping in quake. I changed that setting and start b-jumping from first try. Lol its so easy. Welcome myself to the pro club, lol.
