Weekly AGR Session: 31 July 2011

Hi all,

Oh boy…  this week will be special – this week the AGR Server will premiere something cool, something VERY cool, something that so cool, it’s possibly the coolest thing ever.. For AGR v2 I used codenames for the secret projects, let’s call this one .. ‘Project Tsunami’ .. anyway, it’s so cool, and so unique, that I just can’t bring myself to tell you what it is, I just don’t want to  spoil the surprise(!!), and believe me, it WILL be a surprise, … it won’t affect gameplay, though when peoples first see it in action, it will definitely distract them from the game !! If you are DYING to know, and you are on the AGR Mailing List, you can put in your vent password and read the article , but I’d rather you didn’t until after Sundays game. For the rest of you, I’ll ‘un-password’ the article mid-week, and change the title to reveal what Project Tsunami actually is. OMC’s tip: On smaller maps it is even MORE important to NOT D at the flag. Martyrs can throw 3-4 Mirvs/crack grens (and a det!) over and over (every 30 seconds!?) and the new Martyr’s length of immortality can last nearly 5 seconds (depending on health), so you NEED to stop them BEFORE they get to the FR equipment (SGs Field Generators, Teslas). Listen for their scream, and kill them before it reaches the highest note (invulnerability)

TOUGH MAP MODE
This premiered last week, and played really well, the only weird thing is that the ‘a player can’t tough the flag twice in a row’ had some bug, which (I hope) has been fixed. Also since Grapplers cannot carry the flag on the line in ToughMap mode (should I rename it ‘GurusOnRed’?) there’s no need for GrappleSlip, so I’ve greatly increased the damage it requires to stop a grappler on the line. Only a direct rocket blast, or a LOT of damage will stop a grappler that way.  If you don’t know what toughmap mode is, it’s because you havent read  OMC’s interview with AGR Mania magazine!!

DREAM TEAM
I haven’t had time to do anything re: the Dream Team, but hey, the concept doesn’t need OMC to run it. I’m just as happy and intrigued following someone else’s plan as I am mine, so if you have a D or O theory for a particular map you’d like to test out, make a post on the AGR forum.
