Battle of the Bots

Well, I warned you all about server weirdness a few weeks back, and last week.. one . ‘undocumented feature’ exploded into the gameplay in a way that wont easily be forgotten. Basically, players were able to spawn unlimited bots. I’m still amazed the server didn’t crash. FTE somehow kept it all together, even though my code only assigned memory for 10. Amazing. In any case, the game play WAS affected, but.. it wasn’t in a bad way, just ‘different’. Probably ‘too different’, but on the other hand it didn’t feel ‘broken’. As someone said there was almost the feel of an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game. Town4 especially worked *really* well imho. I ‘fixed’ the bug this week, but a part of me misses it already.. for those who were there, what do you think? Does this ‘Army of Bots’ have¬† a place in AGR? Did it add, or detract from the gameplay.. ? The sight of ALL THOSE BOTS was definitely a sight to behold.


Maybe I can make ‘unlimited bots’¬† a setting, or a reward, or some special map dependant thing.. or use it for a different gameplay style.. to be continued.. meanwhile … see you at this weekends’s:
