  • I think one big problem is how can anyone else get the game? If you have no quake game, where does you go to get that so you can get TF?? That needs to be stated somewhere so people can see it.

  • Dangit I made a typo and I hate that. It’s where do you go to get that, so you can get TF??

  • Beltan

Tired of waiting for a change in this unending disappointment.

OMC says the old players are gone and he doesn’t think they are coming back. I say you’ve earned your punishment for mistreating (or allowing the mistreatment of) long-time players. That punishment is the loss of AGR, the loss of CustomTF, and the inevitable regret you will feel when you realize how much those people meant.

You won’t have old Beltan to kick around any more.

    • Beltan

Sorry to those of you that are still hanging in there, but I’m done dealing with the abuse.

    • OneManClan

Not sure what “unending disappointment” you’re referring to here Beltan. One player was banned, and I made a whole video re: the cheating accusations against another player.

By ‘Old Players” I was referring the the guys who played 10 years ago, guys who only make an appearance at the Rock2ober events these days.

Perpetual cheating/griefing. I guess you guys are okay with it. Unending disappointment if you’re trying to play seriously, though: I actually give a damn about having a fun game, and I’m done waiting and tired of fighting for change.

Your “cheating accusation” video ends a few minutes into the match, before I even got into it and accused, so huge failure there. Half of the video is spent looking at a garbled screen. If that’s what you deal with when you play, it’s no wonder you don’t realize who is cheating or griefing and who isn’t because you probably can’t see shit most of the time.

I played more than 12 years ago so I fit the category, and I’m not coming back, I gave this whole thing plenty of chances. My Sunday evenings are going to be spent with people who actually want to play something enjoyable rather than spending my evening having my fond memories of CustomTF defiled.

I wish you all well in life and your pursuits.

        Good riddance.

          Re: Cheating
All games are recorded, and all demos are available for download. Please tell us what match, and what time. If it’s ‘perpetual’ as you say, there should be plenty of examples.

          Re: Griefing
There is a line between ‘griefing’, and ‘strategy’, and although some would say I was too lenient, I’d rather be accused of that than to take hasty action based on emotions of the moment. In any case, a player *was* banned, so this is a silly time to ‘quit’ because of it.

Unending disappointment if you’re trying to play seriously, though: I actually give a damn about having a fun game, and I’m done waiting and tired of fighting for change.

If you really believe that, then surely you can see that we’re on the same side? We want the same things Beltan, so sticking around will help the ‘justice system’ work (and produce the games we all desire) better than quitting.

Your “cheating accusation” video ends a few minutes into the match, before I even got into it and accused, so huge failure there.

When exactly did the ‘incident’ happen? As I said in the vid, I’m not the best judge of who is cheating, so it’s up to the more experienced players to make the call. I’m happy to make a follow up vid if there is indeed something to see.

Half of the video is spent looking at a garbled screen. If that’s what you deal with when you play, it’s no wonder you don’t realize who is cheating or griefing and who isn’t because you probably can’t see shit most of the time.

The video was made by holding up my phone camera to the screen. Yes, I know there are better ways to make videos, but the only way I know takes ages, and you have to put the dialogue later

Anyway, I hope you can appreciate that if anyone ever accused YOU of cheating, even if they were a trusted player, I’d STILL need to see PROOF, the consequences would be based on evidence, rather than a popularity contest. Whilst the justice might come slower in the AGR world, it is definitely fair, and it is final.

Yeah, it’s a shame to lose any player but having not seen Sapphired and yourself for a few sessions I can only say that the “griefer” won and the whole of AGR lost.
By the way Beltan, I’ve tried giving my opinion on it but because I can’t watch new demos without being forced to use the experimental version of FTE it’s basically impossible to tell what the hell is going on.

I think leaving isn’t right. There are some good games still…

  • wolfgang

Well, all the above post just make me sigh. I mean what a shame. Quake can be soo much fun as well!

What abuse are we talking about here Beltan? The accusations that you make about players cheating being ridiculed?

It’s a shame some of you (sapph etc) take this all so seriously when like it or not it’s really the only organised game we have in the small world of QTF.
Blame OMC if you want but really it’s the whole CuTF community who sank it’s own boat. I mean right before PhoenixLabs servers died off there was “For The People” server, a brilliantly simple idea that the community decides on changes/mods/etc. Even that didn’t last because some people couldn’t see past their own noses and were too busy engaged in childish disputes with each other. A classic case of CuTF community imploding on itself.

Btw OMC, I’m posting here because forums post still need authorising….why?

  • OneManClan

    Demos are up:

    1. A VERY intense 2fort5r with a surprising amount of coordination by Blue dealing with (especially one) VERY aggressive and obsessive Red.

    2. A very interesting rock2 with LOTS of foyer action, rarely seen these days, luckily Red didn’t blow the hole (IIRC), though even if they did, Blue could still have Defended in the water outside, or the little underwater path to the mine.

As far as the drama goes I have nothing to add only because I am not part of it :(.

Second, you can still enjoy tf without having the retail version iirc. The only limitation with this way is you can’t play any of the single player maps ie…the E1M1 maps and so on.

Just get the shareware version of quake then get the tf mod and qw and connect to the only cutf server still around and dl all the mdls and whatnot and presto :D.

Haven’t tried this recently but it should still do the trick. If not then bad advice was just…bad :/. Gl people of cutf.
