New Armor System. Requesting feedback.

Post by Beltan »

Combining the Armor menu with the Leg Speed menu.

"The Streak": 0 armor/90 health. Fastest leg speed. = $0
"Commando": 50 armor/100 health. 2nd fastest legs = $250
"Bounty Hunter": 100 armor/110 health. 3rd fastest. = $500
"Enforcer": 150 armor/120 health. Medium leg speed. = $750
"Brute Squad": 200/130. 3rd slowest legs (No Hop). = $1000
"Mega Tank": 250/140. 2nd Slowest legs (No Hop). = $1250
"Juggernaut": 300/150. Slowest leg speed (No Hop). = $1500

This way having more armor automatically balances out somewhat by having a slower leg speed. Since it combines two of the menus it also speeds up customization. All armor should be red armor level.

Another thing that this does is allow other players to tell what level of armor you have by taking note of your movement speed.

Special Armor Packages menu
>>You may only purchase 1 Special Armor Package<<

"Sealed": Resists Krac, Psionic, Infection. Grants Scuba.= $1000
"Reactive Deflection": Resists Bullets, Nails, Melee. Reflects 10% of Nails n Bullets= $1000
"Energy Dispersion": Lasers, Electric, Fire. Each time it's struck, it regains 5 armor= $1000
"Kinetic Absorption": Resists Blast, Airfist. Grants Stealth, HWGuy Aspect.= $1000
"Mark II Energy Absorption": Energy Dispersion,Kinetic Absorption +Cyberaug= $2000
"Mark II Sealed Deflection": Sealed, Reactive Deflection + Cyberaug =$2000
"Mark III Doom Armor": All Protection Types + Cyberaug= $4000

The 'Full Armor' item should be automatically granted to everyone. While you're at it, start everyone with full ammunition.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you all think.

The idea of directly linking armour and speed is VERY interesting.
1. It makes logical sense (heavy things slow you down)
2. It makes ( as Beltan points out) customising faster.
3. It saves a menu.
4. It makes the game simpler for newbies

The only downside I can think of is:
1. It might mess w Old Skool players heads/ flow/ favourite class
2. It takes away the option to spend ALL your $ on armour and speed
3. it changes a tried and tested situation that isn't really 'broken' in other words, if it aint broken, don't fix it .. there might be some unforseen problem.

If the interest is there, I'm happy to put it on the 'coding todo list'. Opinions?
