Early Editions

Post by Jonan »

I saw two earlier editions of maps that we play from time to time. However they are slightly different and might be worth a go.

https://nl.andi.com.br/qwtf/client/fort ... night1.bsp & https://nl.andi.com.br/qwtf/huetf/files ... field3.bsp

Some differences between 2night1 & 2.
(1) Slime entrance is a lava entrance.
(2) You can RJ over middle bit of the map.
(3) Less tunnels and balconies in middle section.
(4) Duck isn't in middle.

Some differences between 2mfield3 & 4.
(1) No slime entrance.
(2) No air duct entrance.

2mfield3 could be used instead of walling up 4.

I found another version of 2phan on Custom For The People, the other day. 2phan1.

For me, it's kinda like storm7 and xpress3 mushed together. Might be already for smaller games.

Always fascinating, checking out earlier versions of maps. Sometimes the eariler ones are *better*. Eg 2ds2 removed the door at the entrance of the base... but I *much* prefer the earlier 2ds - that door slows down red a little and makes for a fairer and more interesting gameplay.

Often 1990's era maps are made BIGGER in later versions, probably because of the (sigh) frequency of 32 player games.. Seems like a dream now.. Ok, Ill stop.

Yes, the earlier version of 2phan, is very different. We'll have to investigate this more. Maybe we'll do 2 different versions of 2fort for 2Fortember? (Coming up Sat 19th December 2020) The flag room area is the main difference iirc.
