How about a suit that can protect you from lava damage?

It could open up some alternative routes on maps, and strategies.

On an old Custom TF server I used to played on, you could acquire it for free if you bought biosuit and asbestos armour.

Hmmm.. I like it ... and I don't

Like:
Easy to implement,
As you said, Scuba suit + asbestos makes sense.
The suit might look cool visually
New and exciting (?) way to play existing maps?

Don't like:
Changes the gameplay too much, players need to throw away years of training ( ie assuming that lava is not passable)
Throws away the tradition that lava = impassable barrier.
No guarantee that the effort, and gameplay change/upheaval will 'improve' anything.

Need to think about this one..
