Just have a throwing axe and a (melee) axe as 2 different things. Just treat it as a grenade slot.

Also, how should it (Throwing Axes) work?
It should be in a grenade slot, and used as such. 4 axes per grenade slot. +1 for the backpack bonus.

Any chance of the classic napalm grenade? The one that used to spit out fire? It was in the earlier versions of TF. I think up to 2.5. It's still available in the single player version.

Hmm, interesting. So would the jump be in a random direction every time, or continue from the original 'throw direction'? In any case, I'm not sure how this would be (practically) used in-game..

Yea, random direction. It could be used to hold off a tight corridor, such as spirals in 2fort5r and qdeth3. Kind of a MIRV + napalm hybrid.

What about making it an actual spider(s) that runs after the enemy, w a poison bite? Same deal, you can run away from it, shoot it dead, but you are strongly motivated to move.
