Variable Height Sentry
Here's an idea for sentries, when you launch it you can set how high it goes. When you launch it goes 100% of height, but perhaps we could have it so it could hover in between ground and max height. It would be kind of like a drone. Perhaps 25%-50%-75%-100% heights could be available. Perhaps only a hacker could do it.
Wall Mounted Sentry
How about sideways wall mounted sentries, like the motion sensor is done. You throw it on to the wall. But it could be mounted in new interesting places.
Flotation Sentry
How about floating sentries, you throw, or launch, and it would sit on the top of the water.

Or make it so that instead of floating up to the ceiling immediately, you need multiple spanner hits, and the SG goes up x amount w each hit. otoh i don't know if this adds to the fun/entertainment value..

Hack to set hover at 0% 25% 50% 75% 100% height.

Re: Launch Sentry
How about, when you launch it, the sentry base model stays on the ground, and now the base could be interfaced with. It would have the options for adjusting height. Such as
(1) Increase Height.
(2) Decrease Height.
(3) Return to Base. (For repairing & reloading, etc)
(4) Max Height.

Re: Launch Sentry
Can we have an unload rockets of a sentry? Some locations it is a better option to have none. But, "helpful" teammates might load it for a fellow engineer.
As well as an option to lower sentry, perhaps remotely.
Something like, hit "build", you already have 2 sentries.
(1) Detonate Sentry 1
(2) Detonate Sentry 2
(3) Lower Sentry 1
(4) Lower Sentry 2

Re: Launch Sentry
What did you think of the recent 'experimental' turrets?
A: Manual mode: A chain to the ceiling appears, and you hit the bottom of it w spanner to make the SG rise up a little at a time
B: Balloon mode. A balloon appears, SG attached to it via a chain, balloon floats up, lifting the SG with it.

Good idea.. but it wouild be really fiddly. I had a hell of a time making the chain look 'right'. ie reach the ceiling, but not beyond.
Also.. in hindsight .. why put (chunky, heavy, metal) chains on a ... balloon? Hmm

Re: Launch Sentry
If you shoot the chain, and kill it, it doesn't give the death message.
Chain also goes through brushes, allowing you to attack it from other rooms.

I thought death messages only pertain to the attackers/inflictors, not 'the thing that died' ..Jonan wrote:If you shoot the chain, and kill it, it doesn't give the death message.

Oh, and I made it so that the balloon only deploys if the SG is under sky!
.. also.. re the chain... while it looks cool, doesn't make logical sense - chains are heavy, so why would a balloon use them? Hmm.
